  • Are there specific items or groceries that are most needed for donation?
    Due to some of our seniors' dietary restrictions, we prefer to purchase food items ourselves and ask for your monetary donations to support that effort.
  • How can I organize a fundraising event to support your cause?
    Call us at 757-622-8226 to discuss your idea, and our fundraising team will help you bring it to life.
  • Can I volunteer to help distribute care items or groceries?
    Absolutely! We are always looking for CAN helpers (volunteers) on CAN Help! Bag Stuffing Day, Compassion on the Move Mobile Food Pantry giveaway days, and when we pick up pallets of food to sort and store for future distribution days.
  • What areas do you serve or which regions are eligible for your services?
    We serve communities in Northern Virginia (Woodbridge, Fairfax Alexandria), Southeastern Virginia (Hampton Roads, Northeastern North Carolina (Currituck, Elizabeth City, Hertford), Lowcountry SC (Charleston, Monck Corner), and South Florida (Plantation, Miami Lakes) nursing homes.
  • Do you have eligibility criteria for seniors to receive support?
    Yes! We are able to assist seniors that meet the following criteria: Elderly persons 62 years or older; (a) Single-family (must be 100% LMI) (b) Multi-unit (must be 51% LMI) 51% of clientele to be served are disabled, elderly, veterans, LMI low-to-moderate-income residents/areas. For Families Dealing with Cancer, proof of treatment from the attending physician is needed.
  • Do you collaborate with local businesses or organizations for donations or support?
    We are always looking to attend business networking events. We are members of the Ghent Business Association, BNI, Virginia Beach, and Norfolk Task Force on Aging. We welcome any business that wants to conduct a fundraising day on our behalf to call us at 757-622-8226.
  • Is Compassion Advocacy Network a church?
    No, we are not a church. We are a Community Development Corporation recognized by the IRS as a 501 (C) (3) public charity.
  • How can I donate or contribute to your cause?
    There are so many ways to support our mission. We accept monetary donations of cash, checks, money orders, credit cards, and CASH APP ($CANORGINC).   • How much of your funds power your actual programs?
    With the rising operational costs every year, when our fundraising efforts achieve $300,000 or more yearly, at least 75% of the fund's power The CAN Help! Program.
  • Are there seasonal initiatives or special programs for seniors during holidays or difficult times?
    We're so glad you asked! CAN delivers special CAN Help! bags during Thanksgiving and for our CAN Christmas initiative. If volunteering for these initiatives would warm your heart, we invite you to check out our "Get Involved" page to connect with us. Additionally, we offer one-to-one friendship relations to combat isolationism and food supplement programs to fight food hunger among seniors.
  • Are there opportunities for corporate sponsorships or partnerships?
    Yes. We offer an integrated marketing program that offers benefits for corporate sponsorships and partnership opportunities. Contact us at 757-622-8226, and we will gladly discuss those business-building opportunities.
